Meet the Enigma Catamaran crew:  Evan Kezsbom & Jalene Szuba

Enigma crewEvan’s first experience sailing was as a child during summers in New England where he was drawn to small dingy and hobie cats in the bays of Maine. This quickly sparked his love affair for life on the water, which continued through his teen years taking any opportunity to get out on the water, both with family and through instruction. After university in Colorado, he moved to San Francisco, CA to pursue a career in IT work where he could still enjoy the close proximity to the ocean and all it has to offer. With 10 years of corporate experience, he decided to start his own business and moved back to the mountains of Colorado.   Settling in the small mountain town of Crested Butte, he built and managed several small businesses, enjoying the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. All along his love for the water has never faded, whether it be sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, kite surfing or diving. This has remained a constant in his life that he was able to satisfy either on extended travels abroad or on the lakes at 9000’! While he has gained advanced training and experience sailing in many areas of the world, the Caribbean has always been a favorite with the BVIs at the top of the list.

Jalene first discovered the magic of sailing during childhood, living on the Finger Lakes of New York. She moved to Chicago to attend college and was a crewmember on 40’ racing yachts for over 10 years while working/living there. She loved the technical execution of racing but also the teamwork and camaraderie unique to these crews. While sailing was a passion, she worked for McDonald’s Corporation producing projects, including many Olympic press events.  After meeting Evan, she relocated to Crested Butte where she directed events for a non-profit and taught camp kids sailing on the lakes there. She has always enjoyed cooking, learning from her mother and grandmothers growing up in the kitchen. Recently she studied privately under an award winning Culinary Institute of America chef & acclaimed restaurant owner. She loves using fresh/local ingredients when possible and is happy to accommodate dietary requests.  In 2008 the paths of Jalene and Evan crossed through mutual friends and family. Their love for sailing and skiing was something that drew them to each other and they’ve shared this love ever since. They have sailed extensively as a team, both for pleasure and as crew. Jalene’s vast racing background compliments Evan on deck while Evan’s love for the culinary arts makes him a helpful sous chef in the galley. Their love for adventure, the ocean, food and life is something they truly enjoy sharing with their guests. They are a fun loving couple that complements each other in entertaining and providing for guests. They strive to make unforgettable memories with all who vacation with them.
